30cc Two-stroke by Frank Waterton.

Built in 1933 by the Innocent brothers, this beautifuly made 30cc four-stroke engine was consistently successful through to the 1950s.

In 1936 it became the first IC engine to hold the British record since 1907.

This exquisite example of a 30cc Four-stroke was the last in the line built by Mr Noble of Bristol before turning to two-strokes.

Along with his brother, Mr Noble had been a regular competitor from the early days of the last century right through to the 1950s

Jack Duffield created several innovative two-stroke motors for his boats and this is one of the smallest.

With no exhaust system, every run must have been a messy business.

The spark ignition is provided by............

.....a magneto mounted in the front of the boat at the end of a long cardan shaft.

The mag also acted as the gearbox for a vee drive system.

Many constructors utilised the 'reliable' but relatively staid performance of designs from Edgar Westbury.

The 15cc Kiwi was one of many used in boats with plans, castings and constructional articles freely available for the home builder.

Arthur Weaver was renowned for his craftsmanship and this diminutive 10cc OHV four-stroke is no exception.

Having seen service in previous hydroplanes and tethered cars the motor was installed in the last of the 'Wizard of Oz' series of boats.

Produced by Grays of Clerkenwell and designed by F.N Sharpe, the Grayson appeared in many boats in the early 30s.

Available as a complete engine for £6-10-0 or as parts and castings, it lacked performance unless 'breathed' on by Mr Sharpe

This 'A' class motor is one of numerous engine built by Frank that included a 6 cylinder twin OHC marine engine.

To get round the problem of complex castings the 3 aluminium 'bumps' are covers which form the transfer passages.
